Stripe invoicing

What's the best invoicing app for freelancers that works with Stripe?

Short answer

Pick one where clients pay into your own Stripe account, the invoice marks itself paid when Stripe confirms, and bank debit sits beside card so large invoices cost less to take. PaloWorks works that way: you connect Stripe from Settings, clients pay from the invoice link with no account, and payouts come from Stripe as usual.

Free for 1 client, 3 active projects. No card to start. Updated by PaloWorks.

What to look for

  • The money lands in your Stripe account

A platform that holds your money between client and bank is one more party to chase.

    In PaloWorks

Payments are charged on your own connected Stripe account, and Stripe pays you out on its usual schedule.

  • Paid status that updates itself

Marking invoices paid by hand is how a paid invoice gets a reminder.

    In PaloWorks

Stripe's confirmation marks the invoice paid and stops its reminders. A bank debit shows as processing until it clears.

  • Card and bank debit

Some clients pay by card on a phone; finance teams prefer a bank payment.

    In PaloWorks

Card, with Apple Pay and Google Pay, on every invoice, plus bank debit for USD, EUR and GBP where available.

  • Payments that did not go through Stripe

Some clients will always send a bank transfer or a check.

    In PaloWorks

Record a payment by bank transfer, cash, check, card or other, in full or in part, with a reference.

  • Fees you can read

A fee you only discover on the payout is a fee you did not agree to.

    In PaloWorks

A PaloWorks fee, set by plan, applies when a client pays online; Stripe's processing fees are separate. Pricing lists the rates.

How it works in PaloWorks

  1. Step 1

    Connect Stripe

Start from Settings and finish Stripe's own sign-up for your studio's account.

  2. Step 2

    Send the invoice

The client gets a link with a Pay button; no account on their side.

  3. Step 3

    The client pays

Card or bank debit for the balance due, on Stripe's checkout.

  4. Step 4

    It marks itself paid

Stripe confirms, the invoice is paid, reminders stop, and Stripe pays you out.

When PaloWorks is the wrong pick

  • Connecting Stripe sets up a Stripe account for your studio through Stripe's own sign-up. Linking a Stripe account you already use is not supported.
  • Online payment takes the full balance due. To split a fee, send a deposit and later invoices, or record part payments made another way.
  • PaloWorks makes its own checkout for each invoice; it does not create invoices in Stripe Invoicing.
