Accessibility
Last reviewed: September 10, 2026
PaloWorks should work for everyone who runs a client job through it, and for every client who opens one of its links. We work toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. We do not claim full conformance: below is what we do today, what does not work yet, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.
What we do
Keyboard
- Every link, button, and form field shows a visible focus outline.
- The public site starts with a “Skip to content” link.
- Menus close with Escape and hand focus back to the button that opened them; open dialogs keep focus inside until they close.
- In the app, search opens with ⌘K or Ctrl+K and is driven with the arrow keys and Enter.
Screen readers
- Saved, sent, and error messages are announced through live regions, not only shown.
- Navigation marks the page you are on, and decorative icons are hidden from assistive technology.
- Charts and timelines carry text labels, such as a project’s percent complete, rather than colour alone.
Motion
- If your device asks for reduced motion, entrance animations, the animated home-page hero, and smooth scrolling are switched off.
Contrast
- Text colours are held to the WCAG AA ratio of 4.5:1 by an automated test, on every surface they sit on — including tinted status panels and the dark sidebar — so a colour change that fails cannot ship quietly.
- If your device asks for more contrast, muted text, accent text, and borders darken further.
Dark mode
- The signed-in app has Light, Dark, and Match my device in Settings → Appearance. Every text colour in the dark palette also clears 4.5:1.
- Documents your clients open — invoices, scopes, contracts, the portal — stay light, because they are printed, screenshotted, and forwarded.
For your clients
- Clients never make an account. Every document is an ordinary web page that works in any modern browser, zooms with the browser, and prints.
Known limitations
- Moving a phase by dragging its bar on the project timeline needs a mouse or touch. The same dates can be typed into the phase form.
- Dark mode covers the signed-in app only. The public site and client documents are light only.
- Downloadable PDFs (invoices, scopes, contracts) are not tagged for screen readers. The same content is on the web page behind each link.
- We have not had an independent accessibility audit, and automated accessibility scans do not yet run on every page.
Report a barrier
If something in PaloWorks is hard or impossible to use with the way you work, email support@paloworks.com. Tell us the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser and any assistive technology you use. Support goes to the people who build the product. A person reads it and a person answers. There is no chatbot.
If one of your clients reports a problem with a document you sent them, forward it to us — they do not need an account to be heard. Step-by-step guides for every feature are in the help center.
