Contracts and e-signature

Is there a tool that does freelance contracts with e-signature and invoicing together?

Short answer

Yes. Look for one where the agreement holds the scope, the price and the payment plan, the client signs online without an account, and signing issues the first invoice so nothing is retyped. PaloWorks works that way: the client signs with a typed name from a one-time link emailed to them, and the payments due on signature are invoiced.

What to look for

  • One document, not three

A scope in one file, terms in another and an invoice in a third drift apart.

    In PaloWorks

The agreement carries the scope, the fees and payment plan, and your terms, as one document the client reads and signs.

  • Signing the client can do from a phone

An account to create is a reason to sign tomorrow.

    In PaloWorks

The client types their name, ticks consent and signs from the one-time link emailed to them. No account, nothing to install.

  • A record you can show later

If a client disputes what they agreed to, the record is what you have.

    In PaloWorks

Each signature records the name, time, IP address, browser, approximate location and a fingerprint of the exact document signed, and both sides are emailed a link to the signed PDF.

  • Invoices that follow the signature

Retyping the price into an invoice is where errors start.

    In PaloWorks

The payments due on signature are invoiced and emailed when the client signs; later payments follow their own dates and milestones.

  • Changes without starting over

Clients ask to change a clause; the signed version must stay as it was.

    In PaloWorks

The client can ask for changes section by section. Your edits publish a new version; a signed version never changes.

How it works in PaloWorks

  1. Step 1

    Draft the agreement

Scope, fees and payment plan, and your terms, in one document.

  2. Step 2

    Send it

The client gets a one-time signing link by email and reads it in the browser.

  3. Step 3

    The client signs

Typed name and consent; the signing record and the signed PDF go to both of you.

  4. Step 4

    Invoices follow

Payments due on signature are invoiced straight away; the rest when their moment comes.

When PaloWorks is the wrong pick

  • Some documents should not be signed electronically, such as wills or deeds; our Terms list them. An e-signature is evidence of agreement, not a notarised signature.
  • If you need your own countersignature on the agreement after the client signs, PaloWorks agreements are signed by the client only.
  • A template is a starting point, not legal advice; have a lawyer review your terms where you work.

Questions people ask

Are e-signatures legally binding for freelance contracts?
In many countries, an electronic signature is valid for an ordinary services contract when both sides intend to agree. Rules differ by country and some documents are excluded, so check where you work. This is not legal advice.
Does my client need an account to sign?
No. They open the link emailed to them, type their name, confirm consent and sign.
Can the client sign from the plain share link?
No. The share link lets them read; signing needs the one-time signing link emailed to them, which proves the signer controls that email address.
What happens if I change the agreement after it is signed?
The signed version stays as it was. Your changes publish a new version, which the client signs again.
Which plan includes agreements and contract templates?
Pricing lists what each plan includes. Invoicing, reminders and online payment are on every plan.
