Video production scope of work
Video budgets die by a thousand versions. This scope counts shoot days, names the crew, lists every deliverable with its duration and aspect ratio, and says what a weather day or an overrun costs before you are standing in a field deciding.
Free to copy and use. Nothing to download, no email required. Replace anything in [SQUARE BRACKETS] with your own details.
Every deliverable gets a duration, a ratio, and a home
“A launch video plus social cutdowns” is not a scope. “One 90-second 16:9 hero for the website, one 30-second 16:9 for YouTube pre-roll, one 15-second 1:1, one 30-second 9:16 with burned-in captions for Reels” is. Where a film runs changes the edit, the safe areas, the loudness target, and the captions, so it changes the price.
Price the day, then price the overrun
Crew, kit, and locations are booked by the day. Say what a standard day is — [10] hours including setup and wrap — and what the hourly overtime rate is beyond it. Say who calls overtime, which should be the client, in writing, on the day. Shoots overrun; the problem is only ever that nobody agreed in advance what an overrun costs.
Weather, talent, and locations are risks with owners
Name who books talent and holds the releases, who secures permits and location fees, and who carries insurance. Then write the weather clause: an outdoor day called off by mutual agreement moves at no fee, but committed crew and kit are still billed. It is a fair split, it is normal in the industry, and having it written down keeps a bad-weather morning from becoming a bad-faith argument.
