Prices that already include tax
Quote tax-inclusive prices, as is usual for GST and VAT: the invoice total is what you typed, and it shows how much of it is tax.

Many studios quote a price that already includes GST or VAT. Turn on “Prices include tax” in Settings → Invoicing and choose “Save invoicing settings”. From then on, the figure you type is the total the client pays; the invoice adds nothing on top and instead shows the tax inside it, for example “Includes GST (10%) $10” under a $110 total.
- It applies to new invoices, deposits, balances, retainers, time invoices and agreements. Invoices you have already issued keep the way they were issued.
- Each invoice has its own “Prices include tax” box, so one invoice can go the other way — a client in another country, say.
- The tax amount is shown on the client’s invoice page, the printable view and the PDF, because a tax invoice has to state it.
- If you set no tax rate at all, the price is simply the price.
